Pada kesempatan kali ini penulis akan berbagi materi Grammar review yang dibahas di Buku Bahasa Inggris Kelas 10 Chapter V yang discuss Descriptive text mengenai tempat/bangunan bersejarah(historical places/buildings). Lebih spesifiknya penulis akan talks about Passive Voice untuk kalimat simple present tense. Selain itu penulis akan menambahkan penggunaan modal seperti can dan will. Karena modal tersebut masih berkaitan dengan simple present. Berikut ini penulis berikan ringkasan materi beserta soal-soal latihannya.

Grammar Review

Passive Voice

Passive Voice adalah kalimat pasif, lawannya adalah Active Voice/kalimat aktif.

Kalimat pasif dibentuk dari kalimat aktif. Namun perlu diperhatikan bahwa tidak semua kata kerja (Verb) dapat dipasifkan, hanya kata kerja transitif (transitive verbs) saja yang dapat dibentuk pasif, sebaliknya kata kerja intransitif (intransitive verbs) tidak dapat dibuat pasif. Dalam materi Descriptive di Chapter V Kelas X ini.

Karna pembahasan disini dibatasi hanya descriptive text saja, maka bentuk pasif hanya dikhususkan untuk kalimat simple present saja, dan modal (can,will).

Berikut adalah Rumus umum untuk kalimat pasif simple present tense:

S + be(am, is, are) + V3

S+ Modal (can, will) + be + V3

Contoh kalimat:

1. Marry helps her son.

Her son is helped by Marry.

2. Muslims perform prayers at least five times a day.

Prayers are performed by Muslims at least five times a day.

3. People see peace in family as essential for spiritual growth.

Peace in family is seen (by people) as essential for spiritual growth.

(By people sebaiknya tidak perlu ditulis).

4. Amira can enjoy a beautiful landscape there.

A beautiful landscape can be seen (by Amira) there.

5. People will visit Canada by planes.

Canada will be visited by planes.

Exercise

Change the following active sentences into the passive ones!

1. People all around the world see the amazing island in Bali.

2. Shidqi can jump the toy easily.

3. Women use cosmetics to beautify their faces.

4. Some men cook menus in a restaurant.

5. The supporters can watch the final football match in the stadium.

6. Ratih will visit Niagara Falls by the end of this month.

7. A German tourist captures the great Borobudur temple from certain angle.

8. The pilot fly the plane carefully.

9. Many people amaze the pretty view of Raja Ampat in Papua.

10. The contestants of Miss Universe 2020 will try Indonesian spicy food.
